Our Epic Journey Begins

Boxes packed, smiles intact, and ready to act! The Information Technology team moved into their new space in October and is ready to tackle their Epic journey at the new building.

After an extensive evaluation, Meridian Health has selected Epic as the vendor of choice for our enterprise information system. Meridian signed a contract with Epic in September to implement a completely integrated suite of clinical, financial, and administrative products across the enterprise, replacing our core systems such as Soarian, Invision, GE Centricity, and many others.

“The health system's decision to implement Epic systems enterprise-wide is another step in our journey towards full interoperability throughout the continuum of care to meet our vision of one record, one patient at Meridian,” says Rebecca Weber, senior vice president of Information Technology.

“There is no doubt that Epic will provide a strong foundation that will better position Meridian for future growth,” says Steven G. Littleson, FACHE, executive vice president of Meridian Health. “The implementation of one integrated system will ensure efficiencies and improve the sharing of information across the organization, while reducing the room for patient errors and moving us one step closer to creating our desired culture of high reliability.”

We are currently in the initial planning stages of assembling project teams, a steering committee, and a governance structure.

“This is truly an exciting time for Meridian and this decision is an important milestone in our journey,” says John K. Lloyd, FACHE, president and CEO of Meridian Health. “A heartfelt thank you to our physicians, nurses, clinical, financial, and administrative staffs for the time you dedicated to this important decision that will support our efforts in delivering seamless, high quality care to our communities.”
Stay tuned for updates and the latest information.
